Method of zinc flower formation

Formation of zinc flower, first of all to know the principle of zinc flower generation, first try to reduce the solidification temperature of zinc liquid, in order to prolong the growth time of zinc flower crystal, facilitate the growth of zinc flower, high purity zinc is not zinc flower generation, because of the lack of crystal core.

So what are the ways to produce zinc flowers?

1. Add other elements to zinc solution

When a certain alloying element is added to the zinc solution, the crystallization process can be prolonged, and the surface zinc solution will not solidified until the eutectic temperature is reached. Pure zinc solidifies at 419.5℃, and if tin (less than 0.5%) is added, the tin-zinc eutectoid alloy will not solidify until it reaches 198℃. After the addition of cadmium, the cadmium-Zinc eutectoid alloy will not solidify until 264℃. If antimony (below 0.3%) is added, the antimony-zinc eutectoid alloy will not solidify until it falls to 409℃. After the addition of lead, the lead - zinc eutectoid alloy will not coagulate until the temperature drops to 317℃. Therefore, compared with pure zinc, the solidification time has different degrees of extension, so that the growth time of zinc flower crystal is greatly extended, which is convenient for the growth of zinc flower, so the larger zinc flower can be obtained.

2, surface blowing gas method

When the pure zinc layer on the surface is about to solidify, if steam flow or sulfur dioxide airflow passes through the surface, the zinc flower crystal can grow smoothly, and a larger pattern can be obtained. Another purpose of blowing sulfur dioxide airflow is to form a dense oxide film and improve the corrosion resistance of galvanized layer.

3, steel wire mesh method

This method can only be used on galvanized sheet metal, which is achieved by making the wire mesh contact with the surface of the zinc layer by magnetic roller. As the contact point of the steel wire mesh is cooled first, the solid particles of the product are generated at this point and become the crystal nucleus, and the remaining unsolidified zinc liquid, namely, starts to expand outward to form zinc flower.

4, spray fog method

Spray water mist (water and steam or a mixture of water and air) on the surface of the pure zinc liquid on the galvanized steel parts when it is not solidified to create a crystal core. The unsolidified zinc liquid diffuses outward from this starting point to form zinc flower.

5. Other methods

In addition to the four specified methods, if the surface of the plated parts is smooth, the galvanizing layer is relatively thin, the temperature is controlled evenly and the cooling time in the air is sufficient, the larger zinc flower can be obtained.
